Yellowstone Vintage
Styling and Film Photography for local Vintage store.
Context
A seasonal shift at Yellowstone Vintage called for a fresh visual approach to showcase fall arrivals, one that felt authentic to the store’s identity while highlighting the texture, tone, and character of vintage garments.
Insight
Vintage clothing carries history and individuality, and film photography naturally complements that feeling—capturing warmth, imperfection, and nostalgia in a way digital often can’t. Styling and imagery needed to reflect not just the clothes, but the mood of fall and the personality of the store.
Big Idea
Create a film-based photo shoot and styling direction that brings out the richness of fall vintage, earth tones, layered textures, and timeless silhouettes, while reinforcing Yellowstone Vintage’s identity as curated, approachable, and expressive.
Execution
Styled outfits using layered knits, worn denim, leather, and seasonal outerwear to emphasize texture and depth
Shot on film to achieve a warm, nostalgic tone that aligns with the vintage aesthetic
Focused on natural lighting and candid compositions to keep the imagery relaxed and authentic
Highlighted key pieces and outfit pairings to inspire customers while maintaining a cohesive visual story
Process
Started by reviewing incoming fall inventory and identifying standout pieces and color palettes. Drew inspiration from classic autumn imagery and vintage editorials, then developed outfit combinations that felt both styled and effortless. Planned the shoot around lighting conditions and location to maximize the qualities of film, and iterated through composition and framing to balance product focus with storytelling.
